In a paper recently published in BMC Bioinformatics, Dr. Crispin Miller and his team examined the correspondence between proteomic and microarray data using a genome database as a platform for integration to combine quantitative protein mass spectrometry data with GeneChip® Exon Array data at the level of individual exons. Dr. Miller and his team found significantly higher degrees of correlation than previous reports.

Their approach opens up the possibility for the first time of considering combined microarray and proteomics data sets at the level of individual exons and isoforms, which is important given the high proportion of alternative splicing observed in the human genome.
